If you’re apprehensive about raising the $400 minimum, don’t worry! With our help, you will meet and exceed all your goals! Remember: you’re not asking for money for yourself, you’re asking for money to help your fellow Angelenos. Even if they turn down your request for a donation, you’ve still opened up lines of communication for a disease that can be difficult to talk about.

First, make sure to download your fundraising flyer.

Once you log in, you’ll be able to write about what makes you a Hero. So grab your smart phone, record a short video, and upload it to your page. Not really into videos? Post your photo, request donations, and keep track of your fundraising progress. That’s all it takes! Your donors can type in your name and donate directly to your fundraising account.

The minimum fundraising amount is $400, but set your goals high!

Write down the names of everyone you know: family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. Include your contacts from your phone and all your friends on Facebook. Don’t forget anyone!

Why put it off? Ask someone on your list for a donation today. You’ll gain momentum and want to keep going. Plus, the sooner you get started, the easier it will be. If you don’t ask for it, you won’t get it.

Are Facebook and Twitter part of your daily routine? Yes? Then why change? Simply make them another way to share your commitment to Concrete Hero and improve the lives of those living with HIV/AIDS. Post about it on Facebook. Tweet about your training progresses on Twitter. Social Media platforms are your greatest ally!

Know someone who can afford to give you a big donation? Set up a time to meet with them in person. Be well prepared with as much info as possible. Tell them about Concrete Hero and how the funds are being used. Speak from your heart and let your passion come through. Go for it! Ask for a big donation, like $500. If they can’t afford to give that much, they are still likely to give you a large amount. There’s no harm in asking. Bring along a donation form so they can fill it out on the spot. And make sure to tell them that any donation over $10 is tax deductible!

Many companies have matching gifts programs, which means that any donation their employees give will be matched by the corporation. Ask your HR representative for more information.

Follow up!
A phone call, a text message, or an email can go a long way to those who haven’t responded to your request. And always remember to thank those who have donated. It only takes a minute.
